Teenage guys need to be supported in what they naturally love to do. Motivation will come to them by them being able to express themselves.

How can you, as a parent find ways to motivate your son?

1. Challenges

Teenagers tend to react to a challenge. If you challenge them to clean the kitchen in a timely manner or get straight A's for the semester. Competition is with others is a great way to fuel motivation and competition within yourself can be beneficial. Incentives also go along with a challenge, you can think of it as
a reward for the hard work you invested.

2. Incentives

Offering an incentive to teenagers seems to work. Money is always a great incentive. Teenagers like to focus on themselves, you should always try and relate to a teenager by remembering how you felt when you were their age. Incentives may also lead to hard work. Make sure they do the job right and they did not rush through it just to get the incentive. They have to learn to earn things in life.

3. Fun

Have fun with your kid. Be active with him. Enjoy sports, laughter, girls. It will bring you guys closer together. Be a part of activities he is involved in, show support and love. You will be enlightened to see the change in personality when they have fun and are able to be free.

4. Relate

Once you show your affection and support for something your child is involved in it opens new doors to your relationship. Knowing what he responds too and what makes them motivated is so important. Whether it is buying him a new guitar so he can explore his talent, or a video camera for him to make a film, or a computer for him to learn the new ways of technology, or simply just a big hug. It is imperative to remember how it was to be a teenager for you, then apply that to present day, relate your own experiences to your teenager's, and watch you and him grow together.

5.Women

Women are a huge motivation to guys. Always encourage your son to be a gentleman and courteous to a woman at all times. Teaching him how to go about talking to a girl or tips on how to act when they are on a date or when they take a women out to dinner. There are a lot of little things you should hint your son too that he should know about women although most of his game may be picked up on the field. Acual experience is always the best to learn from. This is a confidence builder and may bring you guys closer together.

6. Future

Stay involved in what activities your child partakes in now. Those will probably be things they will keep doing in the future whether it be sports, music, acting, etc. A little guidance and wisdom from a parent is always helpful. That extra effort and support into what your children are interested in will pay off in the future if they turn out to be the next great baseball player or the next great singer-songwriter.

7.College Scholarship or Internship

Encourage your children to be motivated by school and or work. Finding a great internship for them to practice their skills and to learn more about the field they are interested in is necessary. In the mean time they can be working on getting a scholarship to a great school and or working their way up at a company or starting their own company. Whatever opportunities approach them they should take it. All they need is some guidance, love, and support from the parent from the beginning.

It is so vital to pay attention to what drives your children, what inspires them, what makes them move, what makes them get up early in the morning, what makes them smile and laugh, what makes them want to hang out with you. Always look for opportunities to get closer to your teenager's without invading their space but also by relating your own experiences to them. Being able to understand what they are going through as a teenager and to be able to put yourself in their shoes is the most important thing that can be expressed to a parent. You may find that not only are your teenager's inspired and motivated but also yourself.
