In today's world, it is almost impossible to find a wardrobe without even a single t-shirt. Thus, in order to satisfy the growing demand of t-shirts, more and more designers and manufacturers are venturing into field of t-shirt printing. But, still even in a gathering of a handful of people, it is not at all a surprise to find a person wearing the same t-shirt as yours. So, if you want your designs to be completely unique and

original, then why not design your own t-shirt. Moreover everything, from cutting edge designing tools to high quality printing inks to the finest fabric materials, is so readily available over the counter. Also, there are a number of easy printing methods that can help you design and print your very own t-shirt design.

The different t-shirt printing techniques are:

Stencil Printing:

This is by-far one of the easiest ways of printing on a t-shirt. In this method a neat stencil of the design is cut out in plastic sheet using a cutter, placed on the well ironed wrinkle free surface of the t-shirt and fabric paint or ink is used to create a design on the t-shirt. Also, one can cut out different designer stamps using vegetables or any other readily available materials to create impressions on the t-shirt. The life of a stencil printed t-shirt is determined mainly by the quality of ink used and frequency of washing.

Note: Do not forget to place a thick layer of newspaper or plastic between the two surfaces of the t-shirt. Further, do not lift the stencil off the t-shirt until paint has fully dried. Also, iron on the under surface of the fabric after the design has fully dried, to remove the stencil.

Heat Transfer Printing:

For this method of t-shirt printing, the design must be printed with care on the right paper, using the right density of ink and the right printer. Next, the printed paper is impressed on the shirt and heat in given to the paper (using a heat press) in order to transfer the ink from the paper to the garment. It is important to ensure that the ink sticks to the fabric on the t-shirt. This type of printing is just apt for printing extensively detailed designs, without much of a hassle. Intense graphic t-shirts can also be printed using this technique.

Note: It is important to set the temperature of the heat press to a limit, where neither the paper nor the fabric of the t-shirt burns.

Direct to Garment Printing (DTG):

This is the newest of all the t-shirt printing techniques and is highly popular among professionals as it offers the best picture clarity and design. In this method, the fabric is directly placed under an ink-jet printer that sprays the design on the t-shirt creating a crisp and crystal clear design on the t-shirt. The only drawback being that, the DTG printers and inks are way more expensive than the other two methods.
