People who suffer from ailments that are typically or traditionally linked to inflammation, such as back pain, arthritis, even migraines, sometimes turn to anti-inflammatory drugs for relief.

These nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, also known as NSAIDs, have their own serious side effects, however, including gastrointestinal bleeding, heart attack, and stroke.

The importance of stopping chronic inflammation dead in its tracks has become even more critical now that scientists have made a definitive link between this silent, hidden inflam
mation in the body and serious disease, illness, and death.

Because of this revelation, it has become more important than ever to seek treatment for chronic inflammation. There is even a simple blood test a doctor can do during regular exams that will help reveal inflammation levels. The CRP, or C-reactive protein blood test, measures the level of this in your blood and is an indication of whether you have a high inflammation level within your bloodstream and are therefore at greater risk for heart attack, stroke, and/or cardiovascular disease.

Luckily, there appears to be several all-natural ways to work to reduce chronic inflammation in the body with or without knowing your risk.

One method is to drink Nopalea Juice, which is made from the Prickly Pear Cactus. The cactus, a native of the Sonoran desert, is a natural anti-inflammatory and natural anti-oxidant that has been used for centuries as both a food and medicine.

In addition, if people are taking NSAIDs for pain relief, there are several other options, according to the illustrious Dr. Mehmet Oz. Here are some all-natural painkillers that he recommends (after patients consult with their own physicians.)

Any type of pain or chronic pain can harm quality of life and should be addressed in some way. Here are some different types of ailments and natural ways to help ease the pain associated with them, according to Dr. Oz:

• Menstrual Cramps. These cramps can be debilitating for some women, even causing them to take sick days to deal with the pain. Dr. Oz says that the pain from cramping comes from prostaglandins that trigger the uterus to contract to shed its lining. However, sometimes the cramps are too intense in some women who have too high a level of prostaglandins. Taking Vitamin E (about 400 IU daily) for a couple days leading up to the menstrual period can help reduce the pain. In addition, women should continue the Vitamin E dose for the first three days of the menstrual period.

• Migraines. Patients who took up to 100 milligrams of butterbur root twice a day found a reduction in the number of migraines they experienced. This root apparently interferes with the chemicals in the brain that trigger inflammation, which leads to the migraine pain. One study showed that 68 percent of patients who tried this method found that their occurrence of migraines actually dropped by half.

• Lower Back Pain. Studies show that taking 50 to 100 milligrams of harpagoside daily (an anti-inflammatory contained in Devil’s Claw, reduced back pain.

• Arthritis. Fish oil’s omega 3 properties taken four to six grams a day is said to help arthritis sufferers decrease their pain by half.

Frank Yocanis has been researching and writing about Anti Inflammatory Diet for the past decade. He has even traveled to the Sonoran desert half a dozen times to study how Nopalea contains amazing properties that help with all kinds of joint pain, including joint inflammation. He is excited to share how this antioxidant-rich drink can change your life.
