Job banks have much less to do as compared to recruitment agencies. The main difference between them is that the latter have to take on a lot of additional responsibilities before and after a successful placement. Recruiters often specialize in specific niches such as finance and accounting, and act as consultants providing employers with expert advice and helping them find and hire the perfect candidate.

Regular feedback reports and other forms of monitoring help the recruiter act as an intermediary and defuse tensions caused by communication issues. Quarterly or monthly reports from both the employee and employer shed light on what (if any) problems they have with each other. Once the recruiter helps clear up these grievances, both parties realize these issues can be settled easily and start talking directly.

The truth is that recruitment agencies are now irreplaceable components of the whole HR process. Recruiters have good relations with universities and colleges that enable them to get first pick of the brightest students and turn them into high-potential employees. From the jobseeker's viewpoint, the best and biggest companies offering exciting careers and high wages will only consider them if they are first vetted by a recruiter.
