Sugar finds its way into many of the foods eaten today. Packaged and processe

Reducing sugar content in tea and coffee is just one small step: the more important change to make is to minimise or do away with foods like chocolate milk, processed fruit juice, flavoured coffee, and premade soups.

A better alternative is to have squeezed or blended juice from fresh fruits, herbal tea with no milk and only a little sugar, and homemade soups. The ingredients and additives can always be controlled this way.

Eat more vegetables and proteins

Carbs are a necessity as they provide energy and dietary fiber. However, too much of it can lead to weight gain. A healthy way to cut the pounds and still get sufficient nutrition is to eat more proteins healthy fats, and low-carb vegetables. Eggs, seafood and meat are protein-rich but can be replaced with tofu, quinoa, and lentils for vegetarians and vegans. Coconut oil, olive oil and low fat butter are some of the best examples of healthy fats.. For vegetables that aren’t carb-heavy, look to broccoli, cabbage and lettuce as well as spinach, kale, cucumber and cauliflower.

While minimising sugar, carbohydrates, and fat is important, it’s just as vital to consume them in the right amounts. Drink plenty of water – about 8 full glasses a day – and you’ll soon see the benefits.
Aside from a healthy diet, it’s very important to keep active. Not only does it help maintain weight, but it can help prevent a host of problems that includes cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers. Exercise is also hugely beneficial for mental and emotional health. Studies have shown that it can help treat depression to an extent and can reduce stress. With so many benefits to eating and living right, it’s time to rethink one’s lifestyle and move towards improving it.
