Some people feel awkward or afraid when talking about death and preparing for it. But it is something that we must all face in the end, so why not do it your way? Hence, the rise of funeral planning services.

There are many advantages to planning your funeral ahead of time. Aside from the financial benefits (your surviving family don't have to worry about the expenses), funeral planning also allows you to control the last moments of your life. You can make specific arrangements and wishes that the funeral director has to follow.

To h

ave a smooth and satisfactory funeral planning, here are some things you should consider.

1. It is not compulsory. Nobody should force you to make your final arrangements when you are not ready, even if they are your family. Only you can make this decision. If you feel that the time is not right and you are not ready to face this challenge, then you have the freedom to do so.

2. Educate yourself. Know what processes are included and what requirements are needed from you by the funeral director. Do you need to purchase flower arrangements from the same funeral company or can you buy outside from a cheaper flower shop? By doing your own research, you'll be able to save yourself from unnecessary expenses and hassles.

3. It's not how much you spend. Love can never be measured by how expensive the plan you bought is. So don't listen to salespeople urging you to provide the best service for your loved one. Just choose a package that you can afford. Don't let them make you feel guilty for not choosing the most expensive. After all, love is not measured by how much money you spent.

4. Review package deals thoroughly. Most funeral companies offer packages to help you save you money. But sometimes, there are things included that you don't really need. For example, renting a coffin when you're doing cremation is pretty useless. Check what services are included in the package and ask your funeral director if they can offer you a customised package instead.

5. Find out exactly what is included in your package. Get an itemised accounting of the services that are going to be provided before, during and after the funeral. People are often not aware of what is and what is not included in the total price, that sometimes they end paying for something that should have been included in the first place.

6. Know when to walk away. If you feel uncomfortable in any way during the funeral planning, just walk away.

Planning a funeral is a very complex task and your funeral director should be able to help you relieve the burden caused by funeral planning.  But before you make any decisions, educate yourself first on what you should do to make the process effortless and smooth.
