Congratulations, you have made it to your dream job in Hotelier industry! You have cleared all your interviews to prove that you are a valuable addition to the company and you are about to join their pod. But your challenge is not yet finished until you comfortably settle in your new job.

Regardless of your experience, your first day in a new job can be quite a challenge not to mention that the entire first month could be mildly unsettling to say the best. Here are some tips that can help you comfortably sail through these hard waters:

>

Relax:

It is very natural that the first day of the work brings an air of tension and shoots up your nerves a little bit. These effects in your body will surely cast their influence on your mind, making you feel awkward and too self-conscious. You will be less inclined to make conversations with your colleagues and thus not in a good environment to do your best work. So, be aware that these fidgety effects are too natural and make an effort to loosen your shoulders and just relax.

Introduce Yourself:

An Introduction is the first step to any successful relationship. But most of the folks are reluctant to do so because we are used to being introduced by others. It’s high time you develop your own approach and practice it well that it becomes natural to you. Here’s a basic template:

1. Start with a greeting ‘Good Morning ‘or a simple “Hello” usually works.

2. Follow the greetings with the name.

3. Frame a small interaction.

4. Give them a chance to respond.

Practicing this routine as often as possible will surely give you a much-needed sniff of confidence.

Be level headed:

It is also natural that your new job may instigate a sense of fire in you to impress your boss and prove yourself. This may lead you to make some big promises which you may not able to keep up. So do assess your abilities before you voluntarily take up an extra task and you will be fine.

Take it slow:

Getting along well with your colleagues is very important for a positive environment in your work space. So if you are in a position of making changes at your will, make sure that you don’t force things. The most common mistake new folks at senior positions seem to make is suggesting for new changes in a well-set system without learning the old system in the first place. This may not go well with the co-workers and clearly, you are off on the wrong foot. Same applies to the new comers as well: take the things slowly and be a part of the system and give it some time until you gain some perspective.

All the best !
